Coal-based activated carbon is developed through a series of processes including carbonization, cooling, activation, and washing. It is generally black cylindrical activated carbon or irregular coal-based granular activated carbon, also known as broken carbon. It has a developed pore structure, good adsorption performance, high mechanical strength, easy regeneration, and low cost. It is widely used in the purification of toxic gases, waste gas treatment, purification of industrial and domestic water, solvent recovery, and other fields.

Customer Background

The customer's company is a state-owned high-tech enterprise specializing in activated carbon. They are engaged in the research, production, sales, application, and regeneration of activated carbon products. They have an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons of various high-quality activated carbon, including coal-based briquette carbon, raw coal broken carbon, bituminous coal cylindrical carbon, and coal-based powdered carbon. Their advanced production technology plays a significant role in improving the quality of activated carbon, leading the upgrading and replacement of activated carbon, and providing strong support for the sustainable development of activated carbon.

Project Background

Material: Bituminous coal
Application: Activated carbon
Equipment: SBM LM Vertical Roller Mill

Advantages of LM Vertical Roller Mill

1.  Leading technology, low investment cost
Integrating crushing, grinding, drying, powder selection, and conveying into one, with a compact layout and the ability to be arranged in the open air, greatly reduces investment costs.

2.  High grinding efficiency, good product quality
Special roller and disc grinding structure design ensures high grinding efficiency; uniform particle size distribution of the finished product, good quality powder with excellent flowability and high activity.

3.  Reliable quality, stable operation
The grinding roller is equipped with a limit device to prevent direct contact with the grinding disc, resulting in low vibration; it also features automatic slag discharge function to ensure safe equipment operation.

4.  High level of automation
Utilizing an automatic control system allows for remote operation, interlocking protection, reliable operation, and easy operation.

5.  Easy maintenance, low operating costs
The grinding roller utilizes forced thin oil lubrication and is equipped with a hydraulic roller turning device. During maintenance, the roller can be turned out of the machine by the hydraulic device without disassembly, making it convenient and quick.

6.  High drying capacity, wide adaptability
It can use hot air to convey materials, drying materials with moisture content up to 15% before grinding, and reducing the moisture content to less than 1% after grinding.

The Process Fow Introduction

The raw coal is transported to the buffer bin by a belt conveyor, then fed into the LM vertical roller mill for grinding by the coal feeder equipment. The material after grinding is blown up by the high-speed airflow at the wind ring and enters the classifier for classification. The fine powder that meets the fineness requirements exits the mill with the airflow, enters the dust collector for separation and collection, and the finished powder is transported to the ball press machine for briquetting. After briquetting, it undergoes carbonization, and then is crushed into charcoal blocks for ton-bag transportation by a crusher.
