Kaolin, as a significant non-metallic mineral resource, finds extensive application across industries including ceramics, papermaking, coatings, rubber, and plastics. To fully realise its value, kaolin must be ground into a fine powder to meet the diverse requirements of various industrial sectors. This proposal will provide a detailed account of the kaolin grinding process undertaken by the European-style grinding mill from Shibang Machinery.
Equipment Selection
Considering that kaolin grinding typically requires a fineness of 80-400 mesh, while balancing investment costs and production demands, SBM Machinery has dedicated itself to developing the MTW Series European Trapezoidal Grinding Mill. Featuring a unique curved blade design, an efficient classification system, and an environmentally friendly dust removal device, this model effectively meets the requirements for kaolin grinding.

Grinding Process
Raw Material Preparation
Large lumps of kaolinite undergo preliminary crushing to ensure particle size meets the grinding mill's feed requirements (typically 15mm-30mm).
Conveyance and Storage
The crushed kaolinite is transported via an elevator to the storage hopper, ensuring a continuous and stable supply of material.
Grinding Stage
Material from the storage hopper is uniformly and quantitatively fed into the grinding chamber of the MTW Series European Trapezoidal Grinding Mill via an electromagnetic vibrating feeder. The mill's unique scraper design effectively directs material towards the vertical grinding surface, achieving comprehensive grinding to enhance output and product quality.
During grinding, the material undergoes repeated compression between the grinding rollers and ring until the desired fineness is achieved.
Classification and Collection
The ground material undergoes precise classification via the grading system. Material failing to meet fineness requirements is returned to the mill for re-grinding, while compliant powder is carried by airflow into the cyclone collector for separation and collection.
The cyclone collector employs an isolated structure, enabling efficient collection of fine particles and enhancing the collection efficiency and precision of the finished powder.
Finished Product Handling
The collected finished powder is conveyed via a delivery system to the finished product silo. It is then packaged using powder tankers or automatic bagging machines, ready for dispatch.
Environmental Measures
The MTW Series European Trapezoidal Grinding Mill incorporates high-efficiency dust collection systems, such as cartridge, pulse-jet, or baghouse dust collectors. These ensure effective control of dust emissions during production, reducing discharge concentrations to meet environmental standards.
Exhaust pipe valves within the system divert excess gases into the baghouse dust collector for purification before discharge, further safeguarding the cleanliness of the production environment.
The kaolin grinding solution employs the MTW Series European Trapezoidal Grinding Mill from Shibang Machinery. Through scientifically designed processes and efficient equipment selection, it achieves high-efficiency grinding and precise classification of kaolin. Concurrently, the implementation of environmental protection measures ensures a clean and sustainable production process. This solution not only enhances the added value of kaolin but also delivers significant economic and social benefits for enterprises.
